SuSE: Bootdisks and packages

SuSE bootdisks

These are mainly provided for helping people to get installed SuSE distributions earlier than 6.2. Those did not contain a driver for the Tekram DC395 SCSI host adapter. 6.2 will provide a DCX395 driver as will the disk images provided here. However the driver is not yet production quality, so please don't rely on your data being safe on a disk connected to it. NO WARRANTY IS TAKEN! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! For details see GNU GPL.

For installation you need to download both the Boot Disk Image and the Modules Disk Image. Please also have a look at the README file.
These images may be written to a floppy disk with a running Un*x system or using some DOS tool. On Linux, you have to use

dd if=eide01 of=/dev/fd0
, while on DOS, you should use the RAWRITE executable provided by the SuSE CD.
The DC395 is on the modules disk and can be loaded during the installation procedure.

SuSE packages

Here are some SuSE packages which I created or made changes to after the 6.2 deadline. Please note that these patches and packages may or may not be contained in later SuSE distributions. These packages are not official SuSE packages and are provided as is, without any warranty, neither explicitly nor implicitly. See GNU GPL. Official SuSE packages and updates can be found on the SuSE FTP-server.
The packages are provided as Source RPMs. If you want to install them, you need to have the needed tools and libraries installed and use rpm --rebuild. This should work on any decent Linux system. For your convenience, I have also put some binary packages (ix86 and alpha) here. If you need more alpha binary packages, please ask me. These will probably only work with SuSE 6.2 (and later). You might be lucky with RedHat 6.0, as it also uses glibc-2.1 and rpm-3.x, just like SuSE 6.2.
